Just got back from the shop

I went to J&R's rotary shop and asked them about my white smoke problem. I told him that I would get white smoke in between shifting or during boost, and I told him about the coolant ring. So I told him the smoke had a sweet smell, but he asked if my coolant level had dropped or if the coolant light came on, and I said no. So I punched the throttle the smoke came out, and he said it smelled like oil, not coolant. He said it has to be my turbo, so we checked out the turbo and he said the best thing to do is remove it and have it sent to majestic turbos.

What do you guys think? It's the turbo?

Remove the turbo and check the turbine housing for evidence of oil. Remove the TID and check the compressor for excessive oil.

Do the "bubble test" (search) on the cooling system.

Process of elimination (ie. troubleshooting).

Well I looked at the turbo yesterday, and the pipes that connect to the turbo and the turbo itself has alot of oil around it.

The guy checked the coolant and said that the lower resoiver should be bubbling during idle if it was the coolant seal.

But what was the bubble test? I start the car cold with the radiator cap off and see if coolant spews out?

Can't find the bubble test, anyone have the link?

This is the bubble test.

If you have a lot of oil in the turbo, then odds are that is your problem.
