just got back from the bodyshop

ok guys, i jsut got back from the bodyshop. they had to fix a big dent some ****** in a truck decided to give me, and a little rust patch as well. ICBC was taking care of the bill for the big dent, and it included a replacement left rear brake light assembly, or whatever u wanna call it. catch was the replacement was ordered to be a used one, not new from mazda. although my rear marker from before was in immaculate condition, i figured they should be able to set me up somehow with a used one that was of equal quality. turns out, its "ok" but it has a lot of small scratches that does not match my original right marker.. its not noticable from far.. but if you compair the two, one seems more used for sure. anyways, unless i can go to icbc and tell them they couldn't find a good enough used one, and that i want a new one,. and they accept that, i guess i will be forced to find a way to take these little scratches off. i dont know if this is possible, since im sure the body shop would have done it for me, all the other work they did was superb, but if there is some sort of method, or trick to making those scratches in the black plastic less viewable, i would really like to know.

thanks for any help anyone can give me

To remove the crazing in the black plastic of the tail lights you would need to sand it off, then polish it back to a luster or paint it.

In the USA an insurance company has to pay for the part to be comparible to the rest of the cars condition or better. You may wish to contact your insurance company and find out if it is the same in Canada. If it is, then you are entitled to a new or like new one, if the other tail light is in new or like new condition.

And please make the title of your threads something actually related to the question. Most people probably ignored this trhead because based on the title they thought you probably were just whining instead of having a real question deep down within the rambling.
