...just going down my list of problems to solve.... split air solenoid

Problem 3263 of 42,928.

This code just won't go away. I mean, it doesn't really matter since I don't actually have a split air hose (suppose I should get one...eventually... if only to make my exhaust smell a little better), but I theorize that perhaps the reason my car's ACV used to buzz like a motherfudger was because there was too much air going out the air relief hose.

...which I had to make my own muffler for, in order to get the sound down the point where it didn't stand out compared to the engine noise (it used to sound like V-TAAAAAK was suddenly kicking in, or something else horrible happening to the engine at the point when the ACV stats dumping air out the port at 3800 RPMs (it's supposed to sound like a mooing sound but instead it sounded like a buzz-saw).

I haven't actually checked to see if it still makes that sound after taking the ACV off and cleaning the check valve, etc, but I would almost bet money that it does.

Now, what confuses the hell out of me is that my SAS works fine (it's not jammed up and it clicked when I put voltage to it)... and it's receiving 12 volts on both wires, and the connectors are good as well. The only thing is that it doesn't lower the voltage to 5 volts (or was it less, like 2.5?) when in 5th gear. Maybe my 5th gear switch isn't hooked up to the ECU or something? Reverse lights work fine though (it's the same switch IIRC...5th/reverse switch).

The leads on my DMM are too short to reach the SAS end of the harness, but I don't think continuity is an issue seeing as how the actual wires have voltage.

...I think my other option may be to do as HAILERS has suggested a few times and dismantling the solenoid so it dumps air all the time (Port air solenoid doesn't run after 20K miles anyway)... and maybe that would mean it would keep the relief hose relatively quiet(er)...although I'd probably have to put a silencer on the split air hose too...

Not like I don't mind a loud car... I just want it too sound like it's supposed to past 4K... with no extra noises.
