just curious about this seatbelt recall...

So I see there was a recall for the automatic seatbelts, with the warranty for those parts extended for the life of the car! So does that mean that I can take my FC into a dealer and have them fix these busted *** seatbelts? Or am I SOL?

Ok, so the next question: Since I have modded the car, the warranty is voided though correct?

Unless you have modified the stock seatbelts... it shouldn't matter... if the rest of the car is modified. I just got my drivers side replaced last week... no hassle at all from my local dealership!

just bring your car there with the paper as proof that there was a recall and then they'll fix it. as long as YOUR car came with the auto seat belts

The paper will not matter, they will have to call their senior rep somewhere and then that person will ok it to them and it will be all good. I have had two replaced at two different dealerships. One other dealership gave me the run around for two weeks, so I went to another one and they did it no problem. They have to, but they won't want to.

Take the paper in to be safe... I talked to the senior rep first and he looked up if my specific car had any recalls and it said the seat belt recall was closed. I gave him the paper and he got the specific campaign number off the paper and looked that up. It came back as a life time warranty so they said they would fix it, no charge. If I hadn't had the paper with me, I may have been making multiple trips... which is a PITA

edit: this is the letter I took with me... http://fc3spro.com/TECH/PROBLEMS/INT/sbrecall.jpg

That could be a major pain in the *** with my car since I have a rollbar installed. They work fine now though, can I just get them in the driving position and yank the fuse? I hate the mouse belts anyway.

One suggestion: take of the plastic surround FIRST. It is somewhat common for them to get broken, and I have yet to hear of a dealership that will replace them when they break it.

you know, its funny that you bring up the stealership and getting the runaround.
heres the 411, you wanna know WHY they gave you the runaround? because in able for them to replace the part, after it is in and out, that dealership takes a 2G hit, TWO THOUSAND DOLLAR hit, labor, parts, blah blah blah.
ya, if they give you the runaround, slap them with the paper and tell them to shove it, and if they dont fix it, then tell them that youre going to the vp of mazda, theyll do it right then and there!

peace

Bullshit. Mazda pays the dealer for the tech's labor as rated in the manual for the particular job, and also supplies the parts. The dealer and their techs get paid just like with any other warranty jobs. The dealerships aren't footing the bill for the warranty, they are just executing the work. MNAO is footing the bill per their agreement with the US government.

Oh, and here's another link that commonly gets ignored for some reason.
