just checked compression

ok, i just did a compression check on my 91 vert and i have
90-90-90 on the rear rotor, and what looked like
85-85-65 on the front rotor.

that is getting me nervous. do you think the ATF trick would have any affect?
or should i sell it now.

Rear rotor looks okay, front rotor - the 65 worries me.

Consistant compression is more important than high compression. The rear rotor is consistant. The front one, however, is not. 1 of the 3 with lower compression usually means one of the apex seals is wearing out and therefore not fully sealing, giving that lower number

one thing - is the car running slightly rich? If its getting lower compression on the front rotor, theres a good chance that not all the fuel is being burnt and unburnt fuel is getting into the exhaust. This would also cause your plugs to foul up quicker on the front rotor.

Try ATF, it could help..

What is the mileage on the car?

Hope this helps, maybe someone else can shine more light on the situation

Good luck!

only 60,000 miles on the car. and the spark plugs had noticable carbon build up, all black, on one half of the plug, the other side was still white. what's up with that?

With only 60k on the car which is over 11 years old means it had to be sitting alot which leads to carbon build-up. Try running some MMO before you go all out with the ATF.

WRONG! One bad or weak apex seal would yield 2 poor compression pulses. One low pulse indicates a side seal is weak
