Just bought a TII!

I don't know why I didn't just buy one of these outright, rather than messing around with an N/A. It's just a nicer car overall. I bought this one from a guy in Arizona. I flew down and drove the thing back (no A/C, that sucked), and it did great in 116º desert heat, the coolant gauge never went above halfway, and the clutch fan only had to kick on twice, and that was with the belly pan AND the under-hood radiator panel missing!

Supposedly the car has a motor rebuilt by Rotary Power, with some sort of porting job on it. It also has 3mm apex seals supposedly (do 3mm seals make your idle crappy?). I don't know exactly what kind of port it is, but GOD this thing has a lopey idle. It's probably not a bridgeport because it actually idles around 700, but the idle is EXTREMELY rough. http://media.putfile.com/MVI_003614 That's what the idle is like, and that was at a time when it was idling unusually smoothly. It seems like it would be happier idling at about 1000rpm.

The car also has:

HKS Cast manifold
Turbonetics Wastegate
T04B, it has .60 A/R stamped on the compressor housing, dunno how much HP this can make
HKS front mount
HKS SSQBOV
some sort of a sewage pipe downpipe/midpipe v-banded to the turbo
the downpipe goes into a RB catback/turboback, dunno the exact size of it
some sort of lowering springs/shock combo, car is very low
I think it has an aluminum hood
Adjustable FPR
FD fuel pump
a nice MOMO steering wheel

The car came with a Microtech that isn't installed, but I think I might put my Wolf 3D on it instead. I also have two 1000cc injectors on the way. My goal is anything above 300rwhp @15psi on pump gas, with a completely stock looking TII...I already love this car. Anyone with an N/A that has been bitten by the speed bug and has some extra cash in the wallet, try to find a nice TII. I got this one for $4000 WITH the microtech, and it's in great shape with a fresh engine...just keep looking.

with that turbo 15psi tuned with the microtech you might see 400h. 300 with that turbo should be easy

I think I'll just have the rear exhaust replaced with a dual 3" system, as the RB doesn't match up to the rest of the exhaust at all right now, then add in new hangers while I'm working there.

Do you really think I would hit 400hp@15psi? I heard this was supposed to be a small T04, boost starts coming on around like 2500rpm...

Congrats on the car. A 1988 TII with the polished rims as well, nice! Love the stance on the car.

Pretty much mirrored what I happened to me a few months ago. Had a 86 NA for a few years and had a chance to pick up a decent red 87 TII. Been loving feeling boost ever since with some breaks of feeling that the car is a PITA when things break. Mine is running stock turbo and "stockish" boost pressures, so not fast, but fast when compared to the NA.

Enjoy the car.

I'm at 300 flywheel by now easily, at around 9PSI with my t04b/s5 hybrid turbo.

for $4k, for that, you got a DEAL! that is a damn nice car.

just think, you could have paid a few dollars more and got a 100 horsepower corolla. lol!

get on a dyno and turn the boost up till you can't anymore! unless you've still got 550cc injectors in there...

I'd buy a walbro, some 720's for primaries and some 1600's for secondaries and then GO TUNE!

I still have a Wolf 3D sitting around, so yeah I might just sell the Microtech, PM me and we can discuss it.

Yeah, this is that car that was for sale in Phoenix. Great price for a good car, it's just little stuff like the wire that runs from the solenoid, the fuel level sending unit wire, little tiny problems that drove the price of the car down. Overall, I'm very happy with the car, it runs and drives fantastically, and with tuning it should be even better.

I'll try to clean the engine bay up a bit and snap a shot. It's nothing flashy, just some shiny intercooler piping and whatnot. Again, understated.

Do you have a sparco similar to this one? http://sparcousa.com/psteering_comp.asp?id=130
I dunno, I can't seem to find this MOMO wheel anywhere but on this car...weird.

The springs are of an unknown make, as well as the shock. I'd get under the car to take a closer look right now, but I cant even get a floor jack under the side of the car, its so low!
