Just bought Racing Beat header and presilencer for S4. 4 Questions.

I just bought the Racing Beat Streetable Header and Presilencer for my S4 rx. I don't have any emissions to worry about and would like to get the most HP out of my setup.

Questions:
1) About the ACV block-off plate that came with the RB header...what is the advantage to removing this system? Is it just weight or is there any other advantage.

2) If I decide to remove the ACV, which parts are actually removed?

3) Removing the ACV doesn't interfere with the 5&6 ports, right? (Simple question I know)

4) If I use the block-off plate, how do you guys have the presilencer connected to the 5&6 port nipple? Do you use the orignal hose/pipe/line?

I think that a reply with a picture would be the best way to describe what you mean...

Btw, I have searched extensivly.

After searching through this topic I decided to put an exaust wrap on my header as well. Which means I have to wait a couple days to install the header now. Feel free to give any tips on this too!

I'm planning to take pictures as I install this and then post them on this thread for any/everyones future reference.

Thanks!

Charles

Here's a picture of what I bought. The 3 gaskets did not come with either the header OR the presilencer. They were bought separately from Racing Beat.

You only remove the ACV itself. The split air pipe connects on the back of the LIM, so the blockoff plate has nothing to do w/ it. Removing the ACV affects emissions only, so no power losses/gains.

use lots of liqud wrench on the nuts and when you get it all installed dab a lil grease on the 6 port rods to see if they are working

So it's correct then to say: The only advantage of using the Blockoff plate is the weight savings and the gaining of space in the engine bay. Right?

The airpump comes out as well right?

Thanks. I've done the grease check in the past. They work.

yea, you can ditch the air pump if you still have s4 intake manifolds (s5 vdi is activated via air pump, iirc)

Just thought of another question.

5) Will removing the airpump and ACV affect any idling?

Also my question #2 was never answered... I'll re-ask and re-phrase it.

2) If I use the ACV Blockofff plate and I want to completely remove everything related, can someone give me a list of all the parts to be removed?

I emailed Racing Beat yesterday and suggested that they update their installation instructions, and basically give the options you have when using the header. They replyed back today saying that they agreed that they were dated and were going to update them. They may post it on their website. If not, I'm gonna ask for a pdf of it when finished. Just FYI.

So I got my heat wrap yesterday. I'm going to install it tonight/tomorrow morning. I'll post pics tomorrow sometime.

How did this install go?

I was planning on upgrading my exhaust as well. Just to make sure I understand what the instructions are telling me, The ACV and the Air pump have to come off?

Umm.. Duo, it went good. Removed the air pump n stuff, but it's a little loud setup. If I did it over, I'd use a cat converter instead of the pre silencer..

I too have been toying with the idea of the RB header. Do the 5th/6th port actuators still function with it? also, does it eliminate the two pre-cats? I have a Catco cat which is just a single piece system that has two cats and runs from the stock manifold to the catback.

Yes the 5-6th ports still work as long as the cat has a return for it.. And yes, only one cat required..
