Just bought a new 7 and.....

It ran fine up until a couple days ago when i was warming it up and it died on me. Also my idle gets really low at times like around 100-300 rpms and sometimes dies out on me when i'm driving. I was wondering if it was my TPS and wanted to see if anyone else had this problem. BTW its a 90' Turbo 2....thnx for any help in advance

There is a ton of information on these forums for you to use the SEARCH (upper right) function, you can search for "idle problems" or just go to the ARCHIVES (at the top of the 2nd gen forum, it's a sub-forum) and look in there for idle problems.

im sure at one time or another we've all had a "my 7 died on the side of the road" stories.....honestly its too vague of a discription to tell u what wrongs exactly....can u start it up after it dies?....would it stay alive if u give it abit of gas?....

i guess start by checking under the hood for any signs of broken/brittle connectors, lines etc......ohh yeah

welcome to the club

check for loose clamps on the intake plumbing, thats a good place to start. then check for any vacuum leaks/off vacuum lines. also check your connector to your mass air sensor, they can be loose or have loose pins on the wiring connector that can vibrate off.

Check all your vacuum lines for leaks, check your turbo inlet tube at the turbo for a crack (they are notorious for that). Also, check the connection to your iacv, and check for resistance to make sure it works. Tps i never found to cause a LOW idle, more so a rough idle. my tps was out like 1 full ohm and it was still idling decent. In my opinion it sounds like you got a nice crack in your turbo inlet duct. When my tid fell off my car would start, run for a sec, shut off, would start again, run, shut off.

My TPS being off cause my car to idle rough. usually around 400 rpms and sometimes surge from 200 - 900 and back, almost like i was reving the engine.

Also you said that sometimes it dies out while driving. Is this while you on the gas? off the gas with clutch depressed off the gas with clutch pressed in boost/vacuum, coming to a stop with clutch down? The more detail you give as to what exactly your doing the better, does the car bog and then die, or does it just shut off suddenly?

It starts to show signs of wanting to die when i come to a complete stop and if i don't give it a bit of gas it'll die (so i guess it bogs down n dies). This happens with or w/o the clutch pressed in and foot off the gas.

Thnx for the suggestions gotrotor and red_rex i'll try to do it over the weekend.
