The title sorta says it all, I found a killer deal on Eibach Pro-Kit springs, slightly used, but only 140 bucks shipped . The question Is: Does anyone have these and KYB AGX (The adjustable) shocks? I'm thinking that I'm going to get the KYBs, but I'd like to hear how everyone that uses the Eibach Pro-Kits like/dislikes their suspension setup?

The springs are great, but the ride is going to be horrible. Even on the lowest setting (1 all around) with the AGX's you're going to be in for a hell of a bumpy ride. But it'll handle like a madman!

hahaha.. Although I'd love it, I'm not so sure my Girlfriend would approve (yeah, yeah, I know, but I've had her for 4 years, and the car only for 2 )

In that case: I'm taking suggestions for a good, street and weekend autocross shock setup

Thanks for the heads up!

if you want some less harsh riding shocks/struts try the kyb gr-2's, they are not very expensive, they are stiff but not so stiff that you feel every bump. they are a good median between good handling and a harsh ride. they were a good improvement over my stock stuff and perform much better.

I have the setup you describe. If you're used to riding on the old crappy factory stuff, then the new stuff will seem comfortable. I felt like the car was leaning into the turn, I guess because I was so used to the body roll. As for autocross, this setup is what many people said I should use for a daily driver, with autocross use. I have yet to autocross, though.

****, on 2/3 I managed to rattle my exhaust manifold bolts loose, not to mention banging my head off everything whenever I hit a bump. God I hate being tall.

Hmm.. If i could go a bit softer than the stock suspension when my girlfriend is riding (setting 1?), then 2-3 for me driving normal, then 4 for autox, that would be preferable, but SonicRat said even setting 1 was rather stiff..

Of course, I don't really know what the stock suspension feels like, since mine is shot, and was when I got the car...

And I'd prefer not to lose my precious gold fillings!

My girlfriend can deal with 1/1 without a problem. I hear the occasional 'OUCH!' on 2/3 when i hit minor potholes/etc. Just tell her you'll massage it afterwards, ya both win.

I have the Eibach Pro-kits and KYB AGX's on my 90 GXL. This setup gives a gentle but firm ride when the AGX's are set at 1 in front and 2 in back -- BTW, these are the settings that KYB recommended. Prior to the AGX's, I had Illuminas, which gave a much harsher ride and required more effort to adjust the rears. I say, go for it -- I think you'll be happy with that setup.

I have tokico's that came on my car (I didn't realize it til a couple months ago) but with those (non-adjustable) and stock TII springs, my car handles almost as well as my friends MkI GTI with $1500 H&R coilovers.

Go KYB AGX, theyre good stuff, and the car handles mad good. Replace the suspension bushings while you replace the shocks/springs, and youll love it. I have the setup you're thinking of doing, and hen it is set on 1 and 1 its nice. I usually keep it on 3 and 5, its mad fun to drive them. Just get soft seats.

Yah, my car had Eibach springs and tokico shocks on when I bought it, and the ride is fairly firm, but not bad if the roads are decent. Handling is really good though, I really love mine! Has a little body sway to it, but that might be the 16 year old bushings and swaybars
