just bought a 7 and it has windshield wiper porbs.
I just purchased 1988 gxl rx-7. The car was in very good shape except for a few minor problems.
Problem #1
The windshield wipers only work on one setting. The guy i bought it from said that he had replaced the windshield wiper relay. It will only work on the 1 setting if that helps anyone.
Problem #2
The a/c and heating fan will only work if you go to max and then go a little down from there. It does not work on hot cold or anything inbetween and only work just right under max. I thought it might be the rheostat. If you have a diagram of that stuff I would appreciate it. Or if u have any ideas of what it could be would be nice to.
thanks-new owner

Sounds like you need a new wiper switch and rebuilt logicon. Check out the moderator 'Icemark' website, he rebuilds and sells both.

The AC/heater problem si most likely to be your logicon(the control unit). They are pieces of crap, and break alot, you just ahve to buy a rebuilt one, or find a good used one.
The wiper problem is most likely the switch, Try swapping it out, or buying a rebuilt one.
You can get both things rebuilt from www.mazdamark.com The owner of the site knows just about everything about FC's.

Icemark, if the fan lever on the logicon is pushed all the way to the right to maximize output and the degree of air coming out the vents are at half the normal level at best how would I figure whether it is the logicon, blower motor or another device? Thanks

It stands for the heat & AC "LOGIc CONtroler"
Also the variable fan speed is controlled by the logicon's signal to a power transistor on the heater box.
The transistor rarely fails, but the connector can go bad.
Right next to it is the fan's high speed relay.
Its connector can get scorched also.
Maybe start by cleaning & reseating the connectors first, then go to the logicon.
Check out the "heat & AC" section of the manual at the link in my sig.
Download & print what you need.

^^^good idea, try disconnect the plugs, clean them, put some bulb grease on and see if that helps. I did this to my headlight switch and it saved me from having to buy a new whole switch.
