Just bought a 10ae
Just bought a none running 10ae for $500. It came w/ 106k miles, body is in neep of some fixing, but it has aftermarket exhaust, short shifter, 8.8mm wires,
15" wide as hell wheels. The offset is off, they stick out 2 or 3 inches from the fenders. Anyway I pulled the p/s and a/c systems and lines out. Just trying to getting the engine going. Seems like it has real good compression, it's getting fuel to the fuel rails, injectors are denso red tops.. thats all I know about the injectors lol. I did clean the things with the little holes below the injectors. It cranks and I usually can smell gas like its flooding. thats about as far as I got with it so far..

Do the tires rub? That sounds like an extreme offset unless its not lowered. But I'm no expert at all haha.
It seems to be a problem with ignition to me. Did you look at the cap and rotor? Pull the plugs? Thats all I can think of since I have barely any experience.
Good luck,
Alex

No distributor. So no cap and rotor. Its gonna be coils, spark plug wires, spark plugs or flooding to hell (you said it has good compression. Have you checked?).
edit: also, the flooding can foul the plugs, too so IMO start with the plugs. Pull one out and set it on the chassis somewhere it can ground, and crank the engine while the plug is hooked up (also pull the EGI fuse in the engine bay so the injectors dont inject fuel and cause a fire).

Haha I had a feeling there weren't distributors on sevens. I don't have mine yet, so I'm trying to learn some stuff. So if theres no distributor, then what is there?

Another AE owner. Congrats! Sounds like you need to get rid of those skateboard wheels and put something else on there that is a little more aesthetically pleasing. Should not be too hard to find a set of the OE wheels if you want to go that route. IMO, the FD wheels really compliment the AE as well!

Since you are new, I will ask if you have checked the FAQ section stickied at the top? I frequently check it, in case I missed something, because there is so much info there. I'm taking apart a 6port s4 block, and I was under the assumption I would require a flywheel lock. Checked the FAQ to find that some use a chain and 2 bolts (duh!). /rant
Anyway, The FAQ is indispensable.

Doing a compression test tomorrow. I turned it over with the plugs out and just sounded good. Also sounds good when i try to start it lol. I have to test for spark also.. I have my 87 se running good now I need to get this going. I get my Drivers license back at the end of august so I have some time on my hands.. Two years with out a license sucks.. My 87 sat for 2 years. Not started or moved. And I got that going just by simply pull starting it to get it above 4k rpms to clean on the old coolant. It use to have a coolant leak and now it doesn't leak any lol. All I did was let it sit. Anyways the 10ae needs a fender, bumper, n a couple little things. It also came with a greddy turbo timer.. thanks everyone.

welcome to the club and to the world of owning a 10AE!! treat the car well, as its a very rare and desireable car. if you get time, add yourself to the registry i started: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/1988-10th-anniversary-edition-owners-registry-add-your-10th-ae-vin-list-597035/ you'll need to post some pics of the car and the progress you are making as you get it running. i paid $1700 for mine with a bad engine and a painted interior. the car is now on the road with a new engine and a stock interior. the car spends every night in the garage, as its my favorite of all of the 7's i own.

Thanks. I still can't get the car started. I've tried unflooding it several times with no success. It has spark, It appears to have compression(not tested yet), Has fuel, seems to be flooding everytime I try to start it. I may try to pull start it to see what happens. The car has sat since 2001. The previous owner was 16 years old when he last drove it... anyways i took the ecu, coils, afm, from the 10ae and put them into my n/a which the car fired right up.. so I eliminated those parts from reasons it won't start.. I've spent about 20 hours messig with this thing in the last 2 days and its driving my crazy..

Ok just noticed that there is fuel all over my primary injectors. I may not have put them back in properly or they need replacing. I have to take the uim and tb off to put the 3 vacum lines i forgot to hook back up..

possible you forgot the pri. injector bleed line on the backside of the mani, you could have stuck it on the wrong nipple (forget which is which at the moment). Then again, it could be a leaky injector. When you say you have spark, what do the plugs look like? Are they completely black? They could be fouled and not getting adequate spark. You still need a compression test, as this will tell you how close it is to death.
Others may have better suggestions, IE: vac leaks/ massive air leak, which is also possible. Best of luck on getting it cranked up.

Yeah the plugs were black, so pulled them and put the ones off my n/a in just for measures. They old ones were fouled. After trying to start it (before I discovered the gas on injectors) I pulled the plugs back out and they were a bit black but were definitely soaked with gas.. I've been calling a few places for new injectors. One place was 349/a pc. another place 72/ a pc for remanufactured. And then I called autozone lol. 83/ a piece. The customer service guy there asked me if my car had sparkplugs because someone told him they didn't lol. He said he was told the rotors compress the gas and combust lol. I gave him a 5 minute lecture about how it works and how they most certainly do have sparkplugs.. lol o well he just didn't know much about a rotary nor the people who told him they have no sparkplugs.

What is this primary injector bleed line? i dont believe that i have this hooked up on mine... and that could fix the problems it has... Do you have anymore information on this and where its located? Thanks, and sorry to highjack...
