jspec horsepower?

I always thought that the horsepower on the s5 was the same (200) in US and Jspec. But I saw somebody on ebay today claiming 240 hp on the jspec engine. Is this true?

I am pretty sure the J-spec engines are the same HP rating.

sounds fishy to me unless they can back it up with a mods list and dyno numbers. i might be wrong but i dont think there were any fc or rx-7 motors for that matter rated at 240hp

The most was 215 from the A/E/Infini IV but I believe it was essentially a S5 with a better exhaust. So even if you got an engine from one of these cars and put on a stock exhaust the power would be 200hp.

Yeah the 1991 Efini RX-7 Turbo II was a J-spec model with radio deleted, automatic climate control, 17" BBS wheels similar to the smaller convertible rims, 215HP from a more effecient turbo & exhaust (same boost I believe), special dark green-black paint job, special racing seats, and a few other goodied I can't remember offhand.

Check the 2nd gen Yamaguchi book or 3rd gen book and there's a picture & description of the car.

So there was a different turbo on the A/E/Infini IV? Any published spec difference?

I "think" the HP came from just the exhaust upgrades, but the turbo wheel may have been different & provided more boost volume.

Heck I'm getting 225 ft-lbs/HP from just opening my 1991 TII's exhaust & boost creep. 215HP sounds about right if I were to compensate for boost creep.

my s4 jspec with very few mods (TID and 10mm wires) put out 224 HP and 211 FT/LB of torque. It winds up with more HP due to the lack of emissions BS on the engine.

Officially, it's 185PS for Zenki and 205PS for Kouki, which translates to the same US-spec of 182hp Zenki and 200hp Kouki numbers.

The infini engine had a slightly revised intake runners and the turbo exhaust side is larger. I am running one of these in my vert. Very nice engine. though the turbo can creep in 5th pretty bad in the cold. My ecu is set up for .8 so if i hit .9 i dont feel to bad but once i hit 1.03. not that is scary though the engine wasnt leaning at all. few things to also remeber. the infini 6 engine in the 92 vert was limited to only 300 has a seriel number on the back. and is a ready for this standered automatic engine!!! this one produced 230hp and is very rare. Out of all the imported engines i have recieved only one made it here... 103 of 300! came from a wreck with only 5k kilometers on it 3000k original miles!!!! That is the one in my vert. Very sweet engine. Also another thing to look at between the jdm and uspec engines is first the ic is larger about 20% and second the turbo on any of the models has a slightly larger ar on the hot side. well hope this helps.. ohh and also there is about 1/3 less the em junk on the engine!

All that's missing is the AWS solenoid and EGR valve. Hardly worth getting excited over.
