if it was me i'd rebuild it first. it'll save you from having to rip it back out and do it later, and i'm a firm believer in doing it right the first time. thats just me though. then again if you can get proof that it was tested and checked out at 100%, then i could see there being no need. just my 2 cents

Just freshin the motor up with all new soft seals and gaskets and you will be fine if the motor has compression to begin with.

my Jspec is running good too..

take it autoXing and have dipped it right up to 8,000rpm many times..

still running great...

I've also bought a Jspec 13b-RE that looked mint.. and it turned out to be junk :p

I vote rebuild. I had one put in, and compression was good. Only to find it had a serious coolant leak.

i wouldn't trust a motor that has been sitting for who knows how long and have no idea how it was maintained.it might have perfect compression but it might aswell pull it apart.a low milage motor all you'll need is the softseals and clean up the carbon build up.might aswell change the seals to 2 peice ones for 13b's.

it's cheaper than running it and it packing it in a few months later and kill both the housing and rotor.

Rebuild it. Get the master atkins rebuild kit, costs 1k. If you're planning to go cheap though, then just get a basic rebuild kit.

www.atkinsrotary.com have fun@!
