The joys of stock suspension
So I went to the track Saturday.
Here are some quick notes
I have 17x8 245 ES100's on the back with stock rear struts and am using a MBC to hold 9-10psi.
Slapped some ice on the IC to help cool it down after the drive to the place.
It got cool to the touch so I figured it would get to nomral heat ranges once I got through the line.
Skipped the burnout but had to go through the burnout box(water)
Then launched around 3.5k rpm.
I wheel hopped pretty bad and got a terrible 60ft. 2.4xx and pulled a 15.1.
So I went a second time firectly after. This is where the Stock interheater got it's name.
Boost dropped like a rock and wouldn't hold. I also wheel hopped again and tore my diff mount

So now I've got to get a new diff mount (third one I've broken).
So any tips on how to ditch the wheel hop? lower tire pressure/new struts/etc....
Also anyway to try and keep the boost up? It dropped to like 6psi by 6k rpm.

First – Check the rear camber, and drop the tire pressure some.
Next - Replace the old worn out suspension grommets.
Next - DTSS eliminator bushings.
Next - rear shocks.

I had bad wheel hop on my TII w/ coilovers, DTSS elim, poly bushings, full comp motor, trans, rear end mounts, torque brace, camber rod, alignment, etc. Thought I was going to break my axles.
I added a JIC CF rear strut tower and it went away. Nice smooth break away on 16x8 w/ 225 Yok A520 (200 treadwear).
The rear bar also finally allowed the car to rotate (oversteer) if the throttle was abruptly lifted on turn in. Finally good dynamics.
I was surprised how much the rear bar did. The only downside is the bar transmits/amplifies roadnoise into the interior. I bet the hollow CF bar is the worst for this though.

Why are you driving through the water box?
There should be a way to drive around it!
If you're running threaded tires, you should NOT be driving through the water box!
The threads pick up the water and splash it all over the starting line!
I'm surprised you didn't get yelled at!

I barely had wheel hop problems with my old 15 inch tires as well. The new tires are 245's though so they grip pretty well. My cornering speeds have increased dramatically compared to my old 205x60x15 setup.
Everybody was going through the waterbox. I had to as well even though I didn't want to(why on street tires?)
I'm getting the comp mount installed either this week or next week. I'm still trying to find a local dealer of those Energy suspension bump stops so I can get a pinion snubber thrown in at the same time.

Water gets into the grooves of the tires.
You roll through the water and your treaded tires pick up water.
You then roll to the starting line, and all the water shakes off due to the hard launch.
You just made it a bitch for the next guy to get a nice launch.
This is why your 60' times all suck.
I would try and find another track?

Not only is it stupid to drive through a water box with street/threaded tires... it's also pretty dangerous. The fact is your radials will not warm up like a slick to burn this water off. You might as well be launching your lovely RX-7 in a small puddle of water. I'd find another track if that's their M.O.

yeah it was Domestics vs Imports night and they had the local ricers and DJ's and stuff.
I was amazed at some of the low 11 seconds cars that showed up though. A lingenfelter(sp?) Vette was there and pulled a really low number(somethign like a high 9). Crazy ****.
The track is the closest but is pretty crappy. Next time I might go to Firebird raceway. Much better. The Tech inspection is a joke at the track I went to.

I just gave my street tires a quick spin to dry them before staging.

I had wheel hop on my 205s, i put the 225s off my other fc and the wheel hop is gone, strange, i'm looking into the ES pinion snubber though, i'm sure its a fluke and the hop will be back has anyone ever created a final solution for the diff mount b/c ive heard of people killing the competition ones

2 main options.
Weld the mount so it no longer has rubber. More hardcore but also increases vibration and harshness.
OR
Comp mount and pinion snubber.
The mount can't break if it can't flex a huge amount. The snubber shortens the travel the mount has so it can't stretch to the breaking point.
