The joys of being a Rex owner.

8 months ago, the power antenae stopped working. The other day it started working, and has worked ever since.

Have you tried putting Mydol in the gas on the shitty months?

My hatch only opens for me when it feels like it no matter how many times I WD-40 the latch.

Yea - The RX-7 owner's regular prayer....

"Please God let it start!"

Clearly, this ritual (usually performed just after the key is in the iginiton) is not done often enough to keep "W'kle the God of Rotary Performance" happy.

How about the uber simple fixes. I had a strange rpm dependant noise coming from under the dash. It would come and go completely at random. I checked half the lil boxes under the dash per the FSM, and didn't find anything wrong. The a week later, while changing my oil, I noticed a plastic clip that had been holding the throttle cable had snapped, and the cable itself was coming into contact with the alt pulley. Sure it chewed through a lil bit, but a 1¢ zip tie fixed it!

My 83, wouldn't hold an idle. 2 people wanted to rebuild my carb. I was using coins to prop the choke open so it'd idle around 1K. One day i'm poking under the hood and hear an air leak. Sure enough a damned hose had a leak. Thirty dollars later, I had what felt like a new car!

I seem to do this a lot lately.

I forgot to mention... when the antenae started working, the alarm started acting up.

My idiot lights flicker sometimes, and the clock works when it wants to. When you open the door, sometimes the light and beeper comes on, and sometimes it doesnt

My clock fades off, if hit a bump and it comes back on. I think it's kinda funny......if I have to see what time it is, I have to find a bump in the road, much more fun than hitting the dash.

Also, once in a while my "shift-up" light flickers when I'm on the highway in fifth gear. I didn't know there was a sixth gear. I keep trying to shift to 6th, but it won't go.......

Have you tried to resoldering the contacts in the ECU? We did that about 6 or 7 months ago, and since then, our idiot lights, door lights, and clock all work! I think it even fixed a couple little electronic things we didn't even know were broke!

And all we can ever do is pray for the little 7's Say one for mine please! Once the tow truck brings it on in, I'll be out there working on it (to some degree) at 9 1/2 months pregnant!

My passenger window switch fixed itself about a year after I got my car and has worked ever since...if only my oil seals would do the same.

Yeah, I know the ECU is to blame for most problems, but if we fixed everything, it wouldn't be a REX anymore.
