Jordans rant of the day

WTF did mazda make it so freaking difficult to get the S5 trim off of the doors and fenders? I sat there for 5 hours prying the ******* off and they wouldnt budge ... those clips that go into the fenders and door suck my *****!

I sat there squeezing as hard as i could with my fingers (which i now have no feeling in) as well as pliers and could not get them to come off.

Any suggestions .. or am i just being a *****?

I do believe you have to attack them from behind with a pliers. They have a connector that pops into a hole and then it has prongs that "catch" so you can't pull it back out. From the inside you have to squeeze the prongs together and push back out through the hole.

Problem is they are in a bitch of a place to get to and there are more than a few of them. If you don't care, pry like a MFer and then you just have to glue them onto whatever you are transferring them to.

Some use clips, some don't. Those that don't use some sort of adhesive. They can all be removed without destroying them, for the most part.

thats not saying **** it........thats doing it the smart way.

Ive only ever removed maybe 3 pieces of trim FULLY successfully - meaning without chipping, digning, marking, breaking ONE tab on the moulding, etc out of probably 50 mldgs..

The smart way is to take them off, and re-attach with 3M double sided tape and a couple dabs of urethane - no fuss no muss.

But FWIW, you can take them off the "OEM" way, its just a pain in the nuts.

Beep777 Has the right way. I have done it just the way he described. You have to unclip from behind. Do not get frustrated because the s5 trim is geting harder to find.

You reach up from under the car to remove the rear ones with pliers. Yup clips. Same with fenders. The doors are glued on.

Those are a pain in the ***. Get as many of the clips off as you can with out breaking them, than use 3m for the rest. When applying the 3m, make sure the surface area is very clean, and use some extra heat if its cold out.
