J-spec engine and other questions

What is the horsepower rating for a 1988 Japaneese TurboII engine? Is it the same as the american version? 182hp?

What is the curb weight of an 88 rx7 turbo II?

What is the stock rear diff gear ratio for an '88?

thanks

okay, so is there any benefit to a japaneese engine then?

Can it handle more boost? Is it more durable? Is there any differnce?

yea same **** if you want more power you could go with a 89+ engine.

but it requires some slight mods to incorporate that into the 87-88 engine bays. see the post below

The benefit is that they are cheaper to replace your motor with or install into an N/A car than buying one that is rebuilt. They are internally the same.

88 rx7 with 89 engine

I had no problems at all swapping to an 89+ engine. It fit perfect, no modifications, as far as the engine bay needed. The thing you have to remember is that the 89+ engines come with high impedence injectors. You need to have the N333 ecu in order for your car to run properly.
