Ivegonemad's Banana Track Car Build

Well its now time for my project thread (yes ive been waiting for a long time), and now im proud to actaully motivate myself to get it up and running. I planned everything and still am searching for the best possible methods of a very reliable track car. so the car will be my 88 10thAE,

yeah i got the car as is, from a friend, former rx7owner,known as rotarydelight on the forum, it came with a the 13bre engine, a custom fmic, a haltech e6x, and all the interior on the car, plus additional parts the owner didnt need...i got the car for no more than $2500.
He said all it needed was a tune, but i talked to the last shop that worked on it and they said it had low compression, 75 front 70 rear, i became sketical, and did my research...which led to this build....

so my plans are to rebuild it and do a large streetport, convert to a single turbo (i dont know which one i will be running yet), ill be running 850cc primaries, 1680cc secondaries, etc.

so today in the morning I fininshed pulling the engnine out, and took a couple pics of it...

and now i have a dirty empty engine bay..

so im taking the engine to lucky 7 where they will work on it...so far im through with today, it will be a slow build but i will get there..surely but slowly...

sweet. What class will you be in? Hope you can still be competitive if they bump you up a class due to the engine swap.

More Pics

so fris has sent me pics of the teardown....

as much as he told me, everything seems to be ok, just that the e-shaft has little wear, but overall it seems good, visually. next is to clean parts and inspect them, once he finishes, the rotors get new bearings and we can start the porting.

So basically your motor is clean with the exception of the E-Shaft? Awesome. What's the time frame on the build?

Just curious - but what class do you plan on running in and with which sanction?

The motor looks pretty good, make sure to run a bevel on those ports so your side seals don't give way too quickly! And mask off on those yellow fenders next time you paint black, lol - i see a little overspray....
