the car is all primed, wheel wells all refinished in black, and engine bay primed. All the kit parts are primed as well and ready to be reattached and the whole car sprayed. Its a little weird running your hand across it, the whole thing is smooth as hell, not a ding or ripple on it. Its like brand new again.

hey man...i work at a body shop and just wanted to tell you that if you ran your hand over the car DO NOT PAINT IT YET!!! you need to spray some degreaser on it first and wipe the whole thing down good... there are lots of oils in your hand and they will cause the paint to run or **** up... just in case you didnt know.. btw the tape job and the priming look awesome... do you paint alot or is this your first time?

my bad, should have been more clear. It's getting done professionally, I wish I could do it that well. I was thinking about it but decided I want this so be absolutely mint so I let a pro take care of it. Thanks for the advice, I'm sure he'll clean the whole thing up again before it goes in the booth.

Oh, and im in Ithaca. Where is South New Berlin?

I'm guessing he'll spray a guide coat on it and then sand it one more time to get rid of any imperfections you were previously unable to see.

Looking good though.

Umm, running your hand over it shouldnt make a single bit of difference. Especially, since theyll probably sand the primer surface with a fine grain anyways. Umm, spraying degreaser on primer will leave you with very bad results.

Yes it will hurt the end result. Maybe not right away, maybe not for 3 years,.. BUT eventually the oils from his hand will come thru. That said he is having it done by a pro and as YOU said it will probably be sanded down again before paint. The degreaser mentioned is for "taching" (sp) the surface. If it is the stuff made for doing the job it will not hurt the primer. HOWEVER: If he uses Brake cleaner to degrease it ,..well that's a different story! I'm sure if the pro is a pro he will clean the surface again and again before paint..

That is going to be a very nice, smooth FC when finished. Nice job.
