Items needed to install rear hatch glass

This coming weekend I am pulling the glass out of my hatch to sand down and remove rust so I can finally repaint the car. I bought the rubber seal that goes on the outside of the glass but cant remember or find what to use to install that glass. I thought 3M made some stuff but not for sure. I think its a kind of glue or sticky adhesive. Can anyone link me to what i need. or tell me the name of it and ill google it. thanks a lot

If you have no glass experience, I'd have a pro do this.
AFAIK, the rear glass is no longer available, so you want to be very careful.

Thanks for the advise. But I am determined to do this 95% myself. The other other 5% is stuff i dont have tools to do like a dyno. hopefully i wont be on here crying how i shattered the glass in my hatch haha.

You can pick up the 3M urethane tube at your local autozone or oreillys..but its $17 tempered glass is pretty strong so it shouldn't break on you. You just need the right tool to cut the glass out.

I'll be putting new rear glass in when the time is right. My current hatch has scratches on the glass but no rust. I have a spare hatch that's rusty as hell but the glass is mint.

That glass is heavy, bulky, oddly shaped, and not really replaceable. Why not just spend the money on a glass guy rather than buying tools and causing yourself headaches?

I'd advise against removing it... Someone was telling me that they had and when they set it down the weight of the glass broke itself...

since the glass is actually bonded to the hatch,if the bond is still good i wouldnt even mess with it,when i restore mine im going to peel the thin trim rubber off the outside since theyre always in rough shape, then mask off the glass and sand everything down, may take it to pro painter to shoot the coat on,does anyone know if that rubber outside glass surround is still available?

well im glad i removed the rear glass. there was some rust from where the rubber seal was broke and water had gotten down in there. the tool to remove the glass was $27 at carquest so I improvised and used a hacksaw blade since its flexable (was pretty easy). now time to get the wire wheel out and get rid of the rust.
