Introducing Myself, Questions About Project FC

hi im tim. i have a 90 miata right now. i've been workin on it and i just want another project, but some that will run though.

im looking at a 88 fc se for 500 bucks. the story behind it is that it has been sittin for 7 years...not knowing why. i understand that any differential mods i do i'll have to redo the tranny back. it doesnt start up but will turn. im guessin it wont start because the gas is problably gelled by now. my main question is would it be worth the money?

well, do you know how to work on a car? and do you now at least the basics on how a rotary engine works?

from what im hearing, other than the gas its probably alternator, and vaccum hoses, you will probably want to read up on arron's page about ressurecting FC's, i dont have the page offhand but if you search the archives it will probably be in there.

well what kind of shape is the body in. also if you think its just fuel try spray starter fluid done the intake my guess is its not just fuel if its been sitting for that long. but if your looking for a project how much do you have to work with, your probably gonna want a rebuild engine anyway. 500 is not to bad i paid that for my fc with a blown motor ive heard of people getting better deals and people getting worse. If the bodies in good shape you might want to go for it.

yeah depends on overall condition, what color exterior and interior? really your talking about a car thats been for sitting for 7 years so it's gonna need all new suspension, complete rebuild of the brakes, probably a new motor. thats atleast several thousand dollars right off the bat. if it's really clean i'd say yeah go for it. but if it's rusty, and the interior isn't nice i'd pass

i know ALOT about piston engines and i have been researching rotary for 3 years so i do feel comfortable enough to rebuild it. im one of those mechanically inclined people.

anyway the car is blue on blue. the interior is good enough. it problably wont have interior anyway when im done. it does need paint (i'll just flat black it ) but no rust. i plan on building it into a dd/track car. but i have another car right now to drive so i can wait on it to get built. i think i can talk the guy down to 250. so i'll deffinatly get it then.

so i know about the forums more....what do u guys like/dislike?
