When I start the car the warning lights never go off (all of them), after 20 mins on the freeway to work all the lights go off, clock and radio come on for 7-8 mins. Then it switches back to all warning lights on and no clock or radio.

I haven't had a chance to do the 3rd Gen mod yet, but have read about it plenty. But, I have replaced the alternator belt. Has anyone had this problem and done this mod? One place I read said it didn't make that much difference.

Could the alternator be barely working and takes 20 to get enough charge into the battery to make it think it's got enough joice?

The really confusing thing is if I turn my headlights on, the radio and clock go off and only the Door light comes on (scratching head). Anyone ever have this one?

What is the system voltage (according to a real meter, not the built in voltmeter)?

I tend to think that you have a loose or burnt connection to the alternator.
