I searched for a thread but couldn't find anything about my malfunctioning voltmeter gauge. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. I'd like to check the connections were do they go?

The battery cables and posts look pretty clean but I'll take the cables of and clean them anyway, can't hurt to try, Thanks Ted.

Next time the voltmeter gauge does not move....rap on the plastic face of the combination meter. Bad connections on the backside will cause your symptoms. If you rap on the face of the combination meter, and the gauge then works....its the connections on the back.

 

Yeah, check the screws on the back of the cluster. They often will get corroded and cause an intermittent gauge.

I have the same problem, and just installed some whitefaced gauges- I feel like a retard for not taking care of that whilst I had the friggin cluster apart!

 

I've been thinking about installing some indiglo guages but didn't want to take apart the cluster. Looks like I might be able to kill two birds at the same time.
