Intermittent No Start...Update #36....

Ok...I've got some time tonight so am going to replace all rubber fuel lines coming out of the tank to the metal lines...installed a wire lead from the connector up to the front so I can get a voltage when she doesnt start...
The other night I looked at the ground in the back. It was over on the passenger side of the rear next to the spare tire...a large black wire bolted to a brace. IT looked ok but I cleaned it and sanded and ran an additional from that to another spot....so.....lets see what happens now...Happy Fourth of July guys till I try and see what's next with this thing....

All right, ya found the ground- how come I couldn't, lol...

Keep an eye on the meter during every start attempt...

It won't be long- I doubt you'll make it to update #40

OK...i have not had a no start (yet) after looking after the ground but in checking the voltage tonight i noticed that it has increased from the 9-10 volts I was getting the other day to 12 + volts tonight on startup and run...looks like a voltage improvement...could this have been it?

Could WHAT have been it? The ground? Sure, if you cleaned it and now your voltages are better....

Hmmm, did ya finally get it????

Well..the only way I will know is to drive it for a few days and see if she does OK...could that lower voltage have resulted in not enough fuel pressure to activate injector ? I'm going to keep the voltage meter in place the next few days and monitor...like you said...

If anything, I guess, the lower voltage/ lower pressure would not have atomized properly through the injectors on a hot engine (hmmm, is THAT why we have a hot start assist system, lol...), maybe causing your problems. (the fuel pressure in & of itself does not activate the injectors- if everything electrical is working right they'll sit there and click on & off all day, they don't care if they've got 20 psi or 100 psi, but your engine will

actually she does fine hot...fires right up....its only after sitting that the no start would take place...after cooling off for say at least 1-2 hours...weird, eh?

I'd bet money that if you look a little further......that during START. the ground on pin 3D is not there for the START position, but shows up a moment later when the key is returned to ON. 3D is the pin that puts a ground on the relay in the Fuyel PUmp /Relay Resistor package which in turn gives you approx 9volts. Anyone buy into that? I do.

He's got an '88 GTU, Hailers, no resistor relay...

Nice guess, though
