Intermittent NO START but is not flooding

WOW! Even the Mazda dealer can't figure this one out.
My 1988 GTU 5 Speed will occaisionally not start, but not due to flooding. No fuel seems to be getting past the injectors. New fuel pump (twice) new filter and fuel lines...still does it...did it today....when it sits for a while it will start just fine....HELP ! !

Does anything click or is just completely dead? I had this problem with my 87 base. I would drive it for a while, go back out and try to start it and it would not. If I let it sit for a while, it would fire right up. Turned out to be bad connections at the starter.

possibly bad compression or bad hot start circuit. The hot start circuit relies on the water temp sensor and the intake air temp sensor to tell it when to operate.
