intermittent function of power steering
intermittent function of power steering
my power steering works than sudenly its stops working
if i restart the car everything is ok. ive check for air in the system but everything is fine. i have a 88 SE.
could i have a speed sensitive power steering??
they were offer on sport,GXL.GTU and Turbo model but not on the SE. anyway any idea what could be the problem??
its not hard to turn but its annoying when its stop working.

Yes, mine did this for a few months before the bearing failed. When this happens, the pulley and shaft usually get lost somewhere on the road. A new pump is about $900, so if it fails I recommend getting a $500 manual steering rack instead - you will like it much better anyway unless you do a lot of parallel parking.

I don't know about the Canadian models, but the US 88 SE has electronically-controlled variable-assist power steering as a standard item. Only the TII was offered with a manual rack in the US that year.
