i have an 88 se auto. it runs perfect 90% of the time . every once in a while it will act like it completely stalled while driving and when i drop down to low speed and give it gas it surges really bad . now here is the wierd part , if i turn the ignition to the start pos. really quick (bump the key) it goes back to normal for almost exactly 30 seconds then acts up again , sometimes . othertimes it just goes away completely, i am a mechanic at my brothers shop with some drivability experience , but whenever i try to figure it out it wont act up. hopefully someone has had this problem and can direct me in the right direction

ok its fixed .. it was the tps .. damn thing kept sticking in ..thank god thats done

 

Exactly what did you do to the tps? Lube it? Replace it? We're having the same problem with my friend's 86
