Interior Teardown... PIA!! ARGHHH
I'm giving up right now and taking a break because either from the factory or from some ******* that last worked on the car... I'm actually thinking it's factory... but somehow there are lots of zipties on all the wires, and right now there is one I can't get to holding the wiring harness in... so I can't route it through the firewall, and I'm ******* KILLING myself trying to fit my hands in those little spaces. I have huge hands.
Anyway, so in my quest to just remove the whole dash (I was going to anyway, so I figured why not) I managed to BREAK _TWO_ things in a space of less than 5 minutes. So I'm gonna take a breather.
Anyone know how the hell you get this **** off without breaking it? Well, not that it helps now, but for future reference, and for replacement?

well the first pic there is a screw right by where you broke it... you need to take that out. most of the other stuff is held in by clips. you can go to a place like autozone or somewhere and get a "clip puller" and a "tack puller". they help a lot.

Have fun. As carefully as I tried, when I was removing the interior, I manged to crack and snap a few things. Stupid Mazda and its brittle plastic.
As mentioned, I recommend getting a clip/trim puller and an assorted set of flatheads. Just take your time and you should be ok.

I seriously can't believe I snapped that the way I did... I assumed, like ALL the plastic headed things in the car that these were the harpoon clips you push in... pulled to pull it out, SNAP... no wonder.
Took me 30 seconds of fiddling with them to pull them off the screw, as that guy said... it wasn't that I didn't see that screw, I thought it was a clip that would pull out.
*sigh*
Does the dealership sell replacement clips btw? I broke a whole whole bunch taking out the carpet in the back... -_- it's impossible how they're designed not to!! Freakin Mazda.

My friend has an older 626 I think. An '87 model. The plastic is just about the same brittle material too but theres much less interior pieces/trim than our FC's.

got my grey interior out of a car with 226,000 miles... stuff was good as new... still had some flex to it.. got everything out and in with nothing breaking... just takes a lil extra time
