Interior paint recommendation

I was wondering if anyone can make a recommendation as to a rattle can paint / vinyl dye that replicates the colour of the stock grey interior?

I have a grey interior, but some of my trim pieces are maroon. I don't want to do anything major like recoloring doors, but for vent covers / sun visor retaining hooks, a decent paint should be adequate.

I tested the duplicolor grey vinyl/plastic paint from my local Canadian Tire store, and the grey is too light. I'm looking for something that accurately matches the dark grey of our interior. Again, just for some of the small, out of the way trim pieces. Thanks

you can't go lighter with fabric dye, so going from maroon to grey is impossible. you could theoretically go from grey to maroon though, but that's a big maybe.

even if you somehow got the grey to come through, it would be very short lived and look like *** once the maroon started to bleed back.

for plastic, you probably won't get ideal results any way you go, paint will eventually scratch/peel off. better off trying to find the proper gray plastics.

I know, it's a temporary measure. I have been looking on Kijiji for several months now for interior parts in grey, or for a car being parted with a grey interior. Still haven't found one. And there aren't any Rx7s in any of my local wrecking yards either.

I can get the defroster vents and clock surround from LRB speed in aluminum, but I can't get the little hooks in the interior or the center console until I find the parts locally (or pay ridiculous prices online, if I can even find them).

Your only real issue, especially on low wear items, is adhesion to the plastic.
So use the specialty paint as a primer and then spray over it with regular paint in the color you like.

I have looked at eBay, and between the cost of shipping and the current USD to CAD exchange, the price is enormous. For example, the biggest piece I need is the rear headliner retaining strip (the thing that holds the back of the headliner to the top of the car where it meets the hatch).

The only one available on ebay is $112 CAD after exchange.

A grey center console (in damaged condition) is $122

Speaker covers are unavailable (I have them, but cracked by the PO).

That's an excellent idea, I wish I'd thought of that. Thanks
