Interior Lights wont go off

Hi, I have a 1987 TII.

when i got it, the door switch was broken and the interior lights wouldnt go off, so i just took out the fuse until i could get a switch.

Now I have a new switch in there and the lights still wont go off? Any idea what it could be?

Thanks

The cable is grounded at some point, if the door switch was broken, I'll try there first. Make sure that the cable is not touching the metal surroundings (grounded) when the switch is installed.

Disconnect the cable from the switch and see if the lights go off.........

I know this probably sounds stupid, but are you sure the headlight switch isn't turned all the way to full bright? Going one click past that turns on the interior light, IIRC.

This is a Mazda, not some silly GM product. The dash dimmer/headlight switch does not control the interior lights on a Mazda built product.

The wire to the switch has shorted and is grounding somwhere. You will have to trace along the wire to find the problem.
