Interior lights wont go on???HELP!!

Ok i have a 1988 N/A Convertible.....i have had this problem befor i am wondering how common it is. The switch that you use to turn you headlights on has a relay in it. Mine for the second time has burnt out.... thus i still have headlights but no interior or running lights (like side markers and taillights) So to fix this is easy but not with out a catch of locating another switch. If anyone knows of any other way to fix this(replacing the relay somehow) or has a parts car that they can salvage me one for a fare price a response would be great! Am i the only one???

it's your 7.5 amp room fuse, replace it

But something else has to be shorting out the fuse. Replacing the fuse is only a temp solution. It's not the switch to the headlights killing the interior lights. I do believe however they are on the same circuit (atleast on my 83 they were...)

no its not the fuse im positive there is a relay that burns out behind your dash that the headlight switch is on. I dont know why?? Any other guesses besides the fuse?

i think you have a intermittent short. a wire in that circut will short once in a while popping the fuse or burning out the relay. well at least thats what i THINK.(not too sure) check all fuses and replace relay again if it happens again, bust out the ohmeter and start probing the wires in the circut till you find your problem. good luck. hope this helps
