Hi Im very interested in a 2g Rx-7, but I have a couple Q's.

One, what is the 1/4 mile time for the non-turbo's and the turbo models.

Also Ive heard the engines are very unreliable above 75000 miles.

I would like to know some things to look for when buying one, and any major problems the 2g's may have.

NA = non turbo
TII = Turbo model

1. nonturbo's are basicaly 16.0
2. turbos are basically 15.0
3. You must be thinking of unmaintainenced FD (3g rx7) motors. The FC (2g rx7) NA engine SHOULD last at least 150k and upwards to 300k miles. The TII engine lasts roughly from 100k to 200k miles. Maintainence means oil change 2k-2.5k miles, spark plugs, coolant flushes, fuel filter changes, and the daily redline.

 

Ah thank you. Now that I look at it the 3g's seem to have more problems then the 2g's.

 

My convertible ran a 16.2 the only time I took it to the drag strip.

 

if you want straight line performance, I'll tell you right now, don't go n/a
