intercoolers

Ok, so which do you guys think is more suitable, water to air, or air to air intercoolers?

Im going to weld 2 stock IC in parallel top mounted. Kinda at 45' to the radiator. Gonna cut a big vent in the NA hood and duct the whole thing. Should be alot easier than FMIC. I would think the h2o is more expensive. Are you really gonna be running that much boost.

I think they are more effiecent at heat transfer.

They can cool better, which is an advantage for very high boost levels. Air-air intercoolers cannot cool the intake charge below the ambient air temperature. Air-water intercoolers with a special ice bucket system can cool the intake charge below the ambient air temperature. The problem with such a system is that it is complicated, expensive, and the ice doesn't last long enough to be practical for street use, so this is why you usually only see it on high-boost drag cars.

You can learn more about intercoolers by reading the $3 Spearco catalog. The "All About Intercooling" pamphlet is good, too, but the catalog will be sufficient for most people.
