Question Intercooler Piping Question...

Hey guys, I just had a question about IC piping. I have an old-school Trust core, and I knew finding the original piping would be next to impossible to find by itself. I went and bought some universal 2.25" piping and put my own kit together. Now, I'm no metal worker or anything, so when I put all the piping on today, I realized that the pipes don't couple together perfectly flush in about 2 or so spots. Is this going to be a major problem? I'm running a stock turbo right now, I plan on getting a BNR Stage 1 or 2 hybrid (whichever will get me to 300whp?). I figure the boost won't flow as smoothly which might cause major problems (as far as how the engine runs and all). Let me know, it'd be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean they don't couple together perfectly? What are you coupling with?

Stage 2 will be better for 300rwhp.

From reading around, what you need to do is get some quality silicone couplers and at the end of your piping get little beads welded on or you can use jb weld, this is so the couplers will not blow off under boost.

Another thing is, see which bends you might possibly be able to weld together and drive it, the rex with the pipes on, to a welding shop to let them do it there so they can make proper fitments. Just a suggestion.

where they don't meet flush as long as they have couplers on and you're not trying to mig weld a large gap closed you should be fine.

Yes, the boost may not flow to 100% of its capability because of it, but I garuntee you won't notice any difference if the were flush....

Thanks guys. I was worried for a minute that I would hafta start all over from scratch . . . One pipe blew off, but it was the one I forgot to get beaded. Thanks again, and if you have any other suggestions, go head and post 'em.
