Intercooler Capacity Q?

how much can the FC intercooler take before it needs to be upgraded. a friend of mine is modifiing his turbo set up on his 88 323 GTX and he was curious as to how big of a capacity it has because he plans to take the boost up to about 18psi...any info is helpful, thanks.

Well on an FC, in the stock location its only good for about 11-12psi. Anywhere beyond that and it doesn't cool the intake charge enough.

www.autospeed.com indicated that IC weight is a pretty decent indication of capacity. (makes sense) As far as OEM intercoolers go, they rated the TII intercoolers pretty highly.
