intercooler

A Mazda mechanic told me that a low budget would be to remove the hest sheild on the bottom of the intercooler. He said the air flow passing through it would improve the cooling. Is he full of ****?

It would let even more hot air from the engine go through the IC while stopped. I'd leave it on.
