Inter. working power window

Hey guys, I got a power window on my driver side that doesnt go up occasionally. It goes down fine, but sometimes it refuse to go back up. If i wait 10 sec, it will move. is that the infamous soldering problem on the switch or is it something else?

sounds like the switch is failing, OR you (or the switch) is holding too long on the down cycle, and the Thermositer in the motor is kicking in and taking the motor offline till it cools

window motor

I had the same problem with the passanger side.

The problem was in the DC motor, somehow the brushes had
managed to work their way under the comutator.

You have to take the entire window assembly out as the motor
is part of the assembly and would be nearly impossible to get back in while still in the door.

I replaced the brushes and after they matched to the comutator, the window has worked fine ever since.

Oh yeah, just for comparison I checked with the dealer on the cost of a new motor and the cost of the assembly, $365CDN and $416CDN respectivly (ouch!).

Good luck,

In the past I have had similar symptoms and the switch was the cause. You can remove the switch and dismantle it carefully--it is fragile--if you find the contacts burnt and dirty that is likely to be the cause. The contacts can easily be cleaned with emery paper and washed with a cleaning solvent.
As I said earlier the switch and some parts are really fragile so be careful
