Intake Manifold gasket difference between a turbo and N/A 1987

what is the difference between the intake manifold gaskets for a N/A and a turbo? I can find gaskets for a turbo for $7 and the N/A for $25, so will the turbo gaskets work on an N/A?

NA's have 6 ports. Turbo's should have 4 Unless its a Turboed NA Engine.

None of the intake gaskets are interchangeable between N/A and turbo.

Though I wouldn't recommend it, I think I remember reading somewhere that somebody used an N/A mani with a TII LIM gasket on a 4 port block, or something along those lines, that involved cutting and grinding and port matching. I'll have to find the source again sometime.

Again though, not recommending or advising doing that. Probably would cause more problems than you're wanting to deal with.

or you can get a whole install kit from a certain memeber for a little more than what you found that one gasket for.

the price difference is because mazda went to a multi layer steel gasket for all n/a series 4 and 5's. nice thing is the gasket is reusable, downside is it costs 4 times at much.

got more of those damn things than i will ever use.

Steel on S4 N/A? I always heard that it was only on S5's or TII's.

the T2 can't use steel because of the water O rings.

sharingan 19, I was on my phone so I couldn't see the picture when I posted but now that I'm on a computer.

j9fd3s, I'm guessing the water O rings are the holes between the ports on the TII gasket?

mazda made a gasket that is universal for S4 and S5, only difference between the 2 was the exhaust passage was blocked but the revised gasket has it open for both series.
