Intake manifold gasket backwards?
kinda of a stupid question, but can the lower intake manifold gasket go on backwards or is it symetrical? ive got a 91n/a. im talking about where it bolts onto the block.
second thing is i cant find the vacuum leak thats why i ask about the gasket placement. i spray carb cleaner right behind the rear primary fuel injector and the engine revs up and smooths out. but i looked at the the vacuum lines under there n everything looks good. i was thinkin maybe it the fuel injector grommets but i changed them. im runnin out of ideas.
if anyones got some ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

Rear primary is at the center of the engine. Are you sure you're talking about the primary?
Could be a cracked brake booster hose if you meant to say the rear secondary.
Do you have the ACV blocked off or is it still there? That could be another source of leaks.

its the fuel injector thats on the top fuel rail. nothing is blocked off its pretty much bone stock. i used the blue gasket.i have no idea whats its made of but its definitely not metal. the metal one is between the manifold and the block. i think theres a possibilty that the fuel injector grommet wasnt seated right. im in the middle of puttin it back together and ill see whats up from there. looks shitty out so i might not be able to finish it. thanks a lot guys

Ah ok thats the normal gasket. Go pick up some hylomar and goober the gasket up with hylomar. It helps seal it REALLY well plus it keeps the gaskets soft so you can reuse it next time you take it apart years down the road.

ok guys it must of been one of the oil injectors or fuel injector grommets cuz the leak is gone. i changed a lot of the little hoses under the plenum and re-seated the injector. thanks guys!
