Intake/Exhaust For 89' TII
Intake/Exhaust For 89' TII
Ok, hopefully i'm getting an 89' TII, but among the starting things I want to do to it are intake and exhaust. I went the exhaust to have a nice low, but not too loud, and the intake the best quality that can be bought for a reasonable price. Could anyone give me suggestions of some brands I should be looking into, and where I should get the stuff, along with anywhere I could learn how install either/or? Thanks in advanced...

You can pretty much learn everything you ever wanted to know about all the questions you asked by searching for them on here. Just type in things like intake, exhaust, etc in the search and tell it to search only the second gen forum and it will come up with tons of stuff. You might wanna also tell it so search only thread titles, cause ther will be lots threads that mention intake or exhaust but aren't really specifically about them. Also check out the 2nd gen archives there might be some stuff in there.

As for doing a search, the thing i'm finding problems with, is to be quite honest with you guys, i have NO idea what i'm talking about when it comes to cars, let alone cars with rotary engines. I just need someone to tell me what a good intake and exhaust are that sound nice, and what kind of things I should be doing with my exhaust performance wise. Any more info would be great. Thanks.
Actually, if you pick up the car the first thing your going to want to do is something like a 60-90K dealership special (only doing it yourself to save tons of cash).
Replace:
Air filter
Fuel filter
Fuel pump filter
Belts
Transmission fluid
Diff fluid
Flush the radiator.
Inspect and check hoses.
Inspect/set timing.
Inspect brakes.
There's probably more than one thing wrong on the car, and it's always a good idea to get the car running at a good mechanical baseline. Then start making changes to it. This will also buy you a slight bit of time to learn more about how adding an exhaust and intake is going to affect boost levels, and how the stock ECU is not very well prepared to deal with increased boost.

To my understanding, exhaust tips just get welded on the end and give you a different exhaust note? Does this do a damn thing for performance, or is it just to sound better? I'd probably start out with just those, if i did, all i'd have to do is weld on the new ones and be good? What do you guys recommend for a nice low, good bass muffler that isn't really loud like those all those ricers i see everywhere?
