Intake Comparison Question

Im in the process of a rebuild and saw this intake on e-bay, bought it and noticed there are subtle differences. If you look at the picture, the original intake plenum has 2 circular indentions. The new one doesn't. New part is P/N N352-13-23XB. I was wondering what the significance was in these two circular dimples??? Do they matter? 90'Vert

My guess is for casting purposes. Maybe they figured out how to cast the manifold without having to use the plugs later on.

?

I kinda figured that it may be related to some manufacturing process, but the 'XB' in the part number threw me off. Where I work an 'X' means experimental or prototype. Thanks.

XD is one of the chasis codes for a Hyundai Elantra. Sometimes things just either don't make sense or are lost in translation I guess.

Yeah, and the original Tiburon was RD, and the 2nd gen (the real 2nd gen, not the slightly modified, but same chassis 1st gen) was GK. Who knows what the method to their madness was.

There are also parts on 1st gen Miatas (body code NA) that has "NB" all over it. Same for the FC that has "FB" written on some of its parts. Alot of it's just garble.

in a Mazda part number, the first 4 digits tell you the original application, the second two numbers are the section number, the next 3 numbers tell you WHAT it is. so 15-200 is a radiator, 66-350 is a drivers side power window switch, etc etc

13-23X must be an upper middle intake....

the next number is the change code, it goes a-z in theory, and it'll change when they update something. although it can be a price change, a vendor change, or a part change, so an N352-13-23XA might be different than the N352-13-23XB, or it might not
