intake air temp sensor is mounted in TB elbow on turbo engines, or in UIM (before TB)

 

Please do not give abbreviations, I need to know exactly what this thing is. My car is a N/A not a turbo. Thanks

 

Please download the FUEL section of the S5 FSM who's URL is in the FAQ of this 2nd Gen site.

On a S4 non turbo car, it's located on the left side of the Dynamic Chamber. On a S5 it's located????? got me, I don't own one. But if I wanted to know, I'd download the S5 FSM, Fuel section. Schetches are in the manual of where parts are.

The FAQ thread on this site has an abbreviation column telling what the abbeviations represent. Key words........Throttle Body and Upper Intake Manifold.

Ok I have gone to the faq and I only get a sorry no match on a FSM

 

FSM = Factory Service Manual

 

On the S5 N/A'S the Intake Air thermosensor is located on the driver's side of the throttle body. It is a single wire fed screw-in sensor and is easily replaced. To see exactly where it is, check out the fuel section of the factory service manual. On line copies of the FSM can be found in the FAQ section of this forum. I have a spare of this sensor that I bought for my S5...when I still had an S5. It's yours if you want it. PM me.

 

A single wire screw in sensor, for a Intake Air Thermosensor? Musta been some kind of improvement over the S4 cars. Ours have a two wire affair. Learn something new everyday.

P.S. they need to correct the wiring diagrams also for S5. They show a Green wire and a Brown/Black wire going to it. Oh well.

Most likely the plug is off. It's a small plug with two sockets. IF it is broken OR the plug fell off, the ECU defaults the temp to 68* F........all day long as long as the key is to ON or better.
