Question Insurance payout questions!!!????

This really sucks! I hit a deer last night and it messed up my passenger side fender, bent my hood a bit, and ripped paint off my front bumper! If anyone followed the buildup of my car, they know that the paint has prismatic flake in it, and that my side mouldings are shaved. well, the paint can't be blended, and the shaved section of the mouldings cracked. I was wondering if anyone has had good/bad experiences with insurance companies (mine is prudential) when it comes to fixing the car after an accident of this nature. I have comprehensive insurance, not Liability, so I figure that I should be ok. But since the body shop It was painted at is the only one that can match the paint, things could get expensive. I can get reciepts for the paint from the boss there, and I don't pay full price for my work there, what I really want to know is If you think I'll get enough to paint it and fix it at full cost????!!

ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!

Painting a new hood, bumper and fender shouldnt cost much... Get an estimate at the shop for the repair (the lower the better) and pray its not above 70% of the cars value or they can total your car.

Good Luck...I have had several bad experiences with insurance companies. Just 6 weeks ago my 92 Nissan truck was hit by a minivan and the minivan was repaired, but my truck was totaled out for only $568 due to a prior door dent. 7 years ago, my mint cond. Fiero GT was stolen. I paid $5400, put lots of money into it, and just received $3100 back...and I was paying $169 per month for full coverage insurance. I hope you have better luck than I've had!

Your problem is your insurance coverage is based on repairing your car to a stock condition. Thats what you paid for that is what you get. If you want them to cover the additional layer of BONDO and you multi-stage Prismatic Paint; you would have had to tell your agent up front and PAID for additional RIDERS to your policy. All the Insurance co. is obligated to cover is repairs to return your car to a stock condition. NOT MODIFIED!

You get what you pay for.

Yep. It probably states that in the contract you agree to. Definately have a discussion about that **** with a company before signing up with them. Dont take "dont worry about it" as an answer.

I work in the insurance field..basically any type of upgrades to the car paint, stereo,tv's etc that wasnt reported to the insurance company when you insured it will NOT be covered. all they will do is give you payment for the car as if it were in stock form..i know its a bitch and a half but thats how the insurance works..you still could try to give the adjuster reciepts for any work that was done to the car and hopefully if the guy is cool he could take it into consideration..hope this helps.

see, I tried to tell them about the paint when I had the car insured, but they weren't hearin it, I would have paid for a rider, but they made it seem as if none were available. The adjuster has already totalled a car that we had, like he didn't give a ****. Can I ask to be given a different adjustor? I'm worried because he and my father really got into it!
