instrument cluster and tranny

hey guys... my speedometer stopped working a while back... everything else works in my instrument cluster..

the rpm gauge the gas oil all of it..

i was wondering does anyone know if the rpm and speed gauges run on different lines

and if so can you show me pictures of what i should do to fix this.

make sure your speedo cable is still connected at both ends and in good shape

One end connects to the transmission on the Drivers side, the other end connects to the speedo behind the instrument cluster.

How am i supposed to know which is which... also.. how do i get my instrument cluster out..

By first taking off the cluster surround. This is outlined in the Body Electrical Section in the FSM. Once you get that off, you can access the screws that hold in the instrument cluster.

Its easy to see it on the tranny, its attached to a cable and shoots out the side of the transmission

which side left or right? I don't know to much of what I'm looking for.. if you could point it out on a picture of a motor i got outside of the car it would be easy to look @
