Installing Steering Rack Spacers

well, i tryed to install my supernow rack spacers and tie rod ends yesterday..
and it ended up being a pain in the ***!

This is what is causing me headaches...i need to get this out, so i can take the tie-rod off... the only way that i have found to get it out is by drilling it out... but i an only get to the drivers side to drill it out.. ..the passengers side has the air-con pump and power steering stuff in the way....

any ideas?

...
steering lock ftw!

^^ these are just fake, the tie-rod's arent attached to the ends...

it looks like a roll pin, did you try the proper size punch? i've found "PB blast" to be really good for sticky roll pins in boat outdrives.

I havent tried a roll pin punch before?

how will it help me get the pin out?

edit: just had a look at what a roll pin punch is...that wont help, the pin only goes down to the thread in the centre of the steering rack...from the top...

otherwise i would of drilled the damn things out from under my car..... but as they are on top the aircon/power steering doesnt allow me to get a drill in there...

A punch won't do you any good since the pin doesn't go all the way through the shaft. Usually, you can put a big wrench on the hex shaped part of the tie rod just next to the pin and turn it and the pin will pop up on it's own.

^^ i have just had a open ended spanner on the hex next to that pin, and I have been belting it as hard as I possibly can with a hammer, and neither of the pins have moved at all..

You might try a cheater pipe on your spanner instead of the hammer. The rubber mounts on the rack might be absorbing the force of the hammer.
