Pretty much just double sided tape. You can add screws if you want.

Just double sided tape eh?

If one were to use screws, would you screw directly into the hatch?

Yup. I used screws and double sided tape on mine, then filled the holes above the screws.

I have 3M heavy duty automotive trim tape for installing it.

Don't forget (as per the phone call last night) you need to drill the hole for the washer nozzle. I have the drills if you need that too.

As long as the surface is clean when you apply the trim tape, there will be no issue.

Both the rear spoilers on my RX-8, and on my 335i, I installed with 3M trim tape and there was no lift or loosening even at 140 mph.

actually my RX-8 limits out at 150 mph... I need to get into the programming and remove the limiter. Its not like some FC that runs out of power at 125-135 mph.

double sided tape can be incredibly strong especially against wind load
also the more it heat cycles the stronger the bond gets
the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai has all of its exterior panels attached with 2 sided 3M tape, of a commercial grade no doubt
