Installing Racing Beat Spring

I GOT NO HITS IN THE SUSPENSION AREA...SORRY

They will be here in a few days. I am probably in the 50th percentile as far as home mechanics go. I have a strut compressor and have never used it.

Is this something I should apemt at home you think? I have the tools. Any expierence, tips and advice would be great. I searched and found no helpful info.

thanks Guys
Jared

oh I think you should be able to do it
it only depends on how rusted the bottom bolts are on your shocks, if those aren't too rusted and you can get them off easily then the rest of it should go fairly smoothly.

the bolts are real clean. I am just worried that I will hose the install with something stupid like putting a spring in upside down or something (kwim). Anyone ever call RB for support? they pretty good? anyone reading this ever done it, any advice.

I think you'll be fine. My hints are don't rush and if you get tired and cranky, quit for the day. I've done it on other cars and RX-7 and it went fine.

I used to do that with civic springs all the time scared the hell out of me each time

spray some liquid wrench or whatever you got on all the bolts now. It might make it easier. an Impact gun OWNS. If it's anything like the cars I've worked on the rears aren't under much tention a person could damn near put some weight on them and then spin the nut off without it pop'n. The fronts on the other hand can shoot a strut 15 feet with a big POP!.

Most likely the tighter wound coil will go in the front.. Some times on the Springs you'll see an F & R. I'm sure that's self explanitory.

putting them on stock struts?

If it were me I'd hold off on the sway bars and see how you like the springs. Sway bars can always be done later. Good luck on your projest. Wish I could continue mine. (need money) lol

I installed the KYB struts and RB springs on my friends S5 and I never done it on a RX and it was easy as long as you have the right tools and the shop your working in doesnt lose power while you are trying to work on your car and your car ends up stuck on the lift for a day.

dude, I wish I had a lift. My wife is really strong so she can hold the car up for awhile and when she gets tired, we can switch places and I will let her install the spring.

thanks dude, I dont llok forward to doing it with out an air compressor. it probably takes a while to compress the springs by hand eh? about how long per wheel?

thanks dude

Well If we didnt have to keep switching places to hold the car up I say
about 30 min. the most but since you have a strong wife you should have it done before you and your wife has to switch

dude, I almost had a heart attack when I saw that pic!

Anyway, I've done the springs and shocks on two 240SX's before, and I'm assuming the 7 would be similar since the strut/susp. setup is probably a lot alike. It wasn't super easy since I'm kind of a n00b mechanic, but it was definately doable. Just make sure you start early so you have time to finish before it gets dark that makes it oh so much harder! hehe.
