Installing new trans, won't slide forward 1/2"

New trans lined up slide in good till about a half an inch, and now it won't budge. Any ideas? Pretty sure it's the same trans. It's the same height. Turbos and na trans are different heights. Is the input shaft count different from s4 to s5? I should have counted...

probably the input shaft is stuck on the pilot bearing.
The tip of the input shaft has to go in "nicely"(into the bearing in the Eccentric shaft) or you are gonna be dropping the whole thing all over again.

Make sure the engine is tilted back when installing your trans or you'll have issues with the trans not going all the way forward.

This is the most frustrating part of installing a transmission yourself. My friend and I have done it 4 times on his Mustang, and every time we do, that is the most difficult part of the whole process. For us, it always ends up being a matter of lining the trans up, pushing it into place, swearing when it fails to, pulling the input shaft back out, repositioning the trans/making sure the pilot bearing was in place, and praying to god that it would go in on the next try. I hate that car, and that is the main reason why I have been delaying putting the spare transmission I have into my car. That, and the fact that I don't know if the spare is in any better shape than what I have.

Do you have the engine tilted back? I use a 2x4 about 18" long and put it between the radiator support and the ps bracket.

put the trans in gear and rotate the e-shaft or the output shaft on the transmission, usually the splines aren't meshed and keeps the transmission from engaging fully.

Ah, didn't even check to see if the trans was in a gear or not. And will also tilt the engine back... Thx... I'll keep updates on progress.
