6PI not working+failed emissions=dead air pump?

So first off, I have searched. Quite a lot in fact, and the only info I come up with is how to remove an air pump, not how to fix it.

Also, 90 gtus, no engine mods.

I failed emissions the other day for high hydrocarbons and CO. I'm thinking my air pump might be on its way to dead, and here is the logic.

Pulled the hose off the back of the air pump, and I *am* getting some flow, but I don't have a pressure gauge to test it per the FSM. When I pull the line from the ACV to the main splitting tubes for 6pi etc. etc. I can only feel a slight whisper of air coming out, seemingly less when I pull the lines at the solenoid.

So I got ADD and tried figuring out why my 6pi system isn't working, so after checking that the valves turn freely and the actuators work, I bypassed the solenoid and started the car, and the actuators didn't move, even with the engine being revved. Used some compressed air (through ACV tube entrance) and they actuate no problem.

So I'm thinking there isn't enough air being inserted into the ports/cat to pass emissions nor to actuate my 5th and 6th ports.

....leading to presuming a dead air pump? It's not making noise, and is putting out some air though.

If it is dead, is there any way I can repair this myself, or am I buying a used/reman?

Many thanks in advance!

i've seen a few dead air pumps before, although its pretty rare. you can take it apart enough to see if there is damage inside, however repair parts aren't available.

if the air pump came apart, you should pull the ACV and pull that apart too, as the air pump pieces can clog up the acv (have that tee shirt!)

the air pumps are the same like 81-91, except for the inlet and outlet pipes, which can be swapped, so finding a good pump should be pretty easy
