OK heres the scenario, Ive got anew radio for my car but ihave no idea what wires goto what on the radio from the wiring harness anyone got some wiring diagrams or words of advice they could spare?

Permanent 12V (battery): blue with a red stripe
Switched 12V (Acc): blue with a white stripe
Aerial: blue with a yellow stripe (switched earth)
Illumination: red with a blue stripe

Go to Soundsgreat and buy an adapter plug kit. Makes it super easy, provided the plugs are still in your dash.

Crimping male spade terminals onto the stereo’s harness and plugging them into the factory plugs isn’t exactly difficult and costs about $1...

I hate when idiots do that.

In my old GXL there were two seperate harnesses for the speaker wires, but I can't remember the colors. I had to bypass the factory amps because the speakers distorted like hell. My TII has a DIN cable, so I can't check it to see.

I could hook it up if you can't figure it out

I ran a new ground wire myself and then ran all new speaker wires to my new speakers.

My car had the entire stereo stripped out when I bought it. No fronts, rears, deck or anything. Just some left over wires that the guy didn't tear out.

The deck isn't too hard to hook up and the adapter kits at Best Buy or any other store that sells them work fine. I thought the fit was pretty good for a cheap kit.

Then, you are finished.

If I was in Alabama, I would gladly come over and help you wire this thing up. Cost = couple beers

If you bring it to me I'll do it for next to nothing.

Edit: The install kits are all the same for the different years. As long as your radio surround is in good shape, and not missing anything, they will work fine.

Hell, I got the install kit for $19.99 + tax.

Mow the grass or something and raise some quick cash for one. Trust me, the kit makes it so much easier.

But, hell. The sheet metal might look good, if you put some effort into it.

Post some pics if you do it. Might give some people ideas. Maybe a little trim work to the rest of the interior to match it all up. Could look awesome.

I put a new cd player and 11-band eq in the dash of 88 and then installed Infinity fronts, rears, and 10" subs as well as two Infinity Kappa amps to power the speakers and subs. So, I ran quite a bit of wiring in my car and know a little. Glad to help out if I can.

Dude, you need a new radio surround badly. The install kits wont be secure without it.

I can still hook the radio up if you want, but it won't be secure at all.

Ignore it then. Huh? An aerial is an antenna. And I told you which one it was! Use the one that has power when the ignition switch is set to ACC. If they both do, take your pick. You are using a test light or voltmeter, right? Are you sure about what each wire on the stereo is? Do you have the instructions or wiring diagram? Is there power at the radio when the when the ignition switch is set to ACC? You only need the ignition switch in the ACC position to run the radio, not ON. And you need to fill your radiator.

I have a similar problem, I have a stereo that used to work in my old car, but when I tried to hook it up to my FC it didn't work. I think the stereo was bad but I think the car has some bad stereo karma or something.

check your fuses, more than likely you have blown several in your attempt to install the radio.

I recommend professional installation help here. The power wires are the simplest part of the installation of a radio in an RX-7.

Save up your money, and take it too your local stereo shop. The wire up (connections) shouldn't take more than 10 minutes even without factory plugs, if you have the wire colors.
